Scott Cawthon is a popular developer of video games, author, game designer, and animator from America. He is particularly famous for creating the video game, Five Nights at Freddy's. As a writer, he has written a few successful books in the horror, young adult, and mystery genres. The other games developed by Cawthon include The Desolate Hope, Chippper and Son's Lumber Company, etc. His animation works include The Pilgrim Progress and Christmas Journey. For the development of most of his games, Cawthon made use of Clickteam Fusion and Autodesk 3D Max. Author Cawthon was born and brought up in the US. Currently, he resides in Salado, Texas. He has happily married life and is blessed with a couple of sons. Cawthon has a strong belief in the Christian faith. He used to help in spreading this faith by working for Hope Animation, a company that creates animation films related to Christian values and beliefs. It was during the 1990s that author Cawthon first started his career in animation and game design. He was interested in this field of work since his childhood. In fact, Doofas was the first game that he attempted to develop when he was quite young. However, Cawthon's official games started gaining attention during the earlier years of the 21st century.
In 2007, Cawthon developed the first volume of his 8 part series called Pilgrim's Progress. Youtube was the platform on which he used to promote his games. Following this, he developed and uploaded some more games such as Desolate Hope, Sit N Survive, etc. The game, Chipper & Sons Lumber Company received heavy criticism from some prominent critics for containing characters that resembled animatronic machines with respect to their movement and interaction with others. Cawthon was initially discouraged by the criticism and was even thinking of quitting game development. But then, he decided to gain advantage from the animatronic characters. This sparked the development of his most successful game, Five Nights at the Freddy's. He submitted this game to IndieDB, Desura, and Steam Greenlight. It gained huge popularity in the first two and was finally accepted in the latter in 2014. After the first draft received wide acclaim, Cawthon followed it up with seven more volumes. In 2015, Warner Bros. declared that it had gained the film adaptation rights of this series.

Producers David Katzenberg, Seth Graeme-Smith, and Roy Lee teamed up with Cawthon with the intention of making a terrifying, weirdly adorable, and insane movie. Gil Kenan was signed as the film's director later in the same year and was paired with Tyler Smith for co-writing the screenplay. Towards the end of 2015, author Cawthon released the first novel based on the game series on Amazon Kindle. The next year, he announced that he signed a 3-book contract with the Scholastic publishers, with a re-printing of the first book in paperback. And with the success of his book and game series, author Cawthon went on to create other successful works. In early 2018, the Blumhouse Productions revealed that they have roped in Chris Columbus to direct the Five Nights film, who was also set to produce it with Cawthon and Blum. Later, Cawthon announced that the film is all set to made on first FNaF game. He also stated that if the producers decide to make sequels of this film then it will be adapted from the next games in the series.
The Five Nights at Freddys book series written by author Scott Cawthon is comprised of a total of 3 books, which were released between the years 2015 and 2017. The settings of the plots is done in Hurricane. Author Cawthon has described the mysterious and horrifying events taking place at a popular pizzeria in Hurricane called Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. He has mentioned the chief character in the role of Charlotte. She is a young woman, who goes by the common name of Charlie and frequently indulges in solving the mysteries. In addition to Charlotte, the other important characters mentioned in this novel series include Marla, Carlton, Jessica, and several others. The debut book of this series is entitled ‘The Silver Eyes'. This book was released in 2015 as a Kindle edition. At the start of the story of the book, it is shown that Charlotte engages in a reunion with her friends from childhood. Their meeting takes place on the occasion of a tragedy's anniversary. The tragedy had ripped apart Charlotte's town and its effects can be seen in its people even today.
Ten years ago, several brutal murders had taken place at Freddy Fazbear pizzeria. Charlotte has spent all these years trying to get rid of the memories of that fateful day. The pizzeria was owned by Charlotte's father at that time, who had built 4 huge animatronic animals as mascots. Charlotte and her friends seem curious to visit the pizza place to find out what had gone wrong. They discover that the pizzeria is still intact, but kept hidden. Somehow, they enter the building an find that things have changed to a great extent. Even the mascots have changed completely. Soon, they realize that those animatronic animals have dark secrets. Charlotte decides to get to the bottom of this mystery and unravel the murderous agenda of the mascots. She puts her life and those of her friends at great risks in doing so.

Another intriguing book of the horror series is called ‘The Fourth Closet'. It was published by the Scholastic Inc. in 2018. Once again, the main characters are depicted as Charlotte, Carlton, John, Jessica, and Marla. At the beginning of the book's story, it is depicted that John keeps wondering about what happened to Charlotte? He seems unable to shake the feeling and the nightmares about her mysterious death & miraculous reappearance. He is desperate to forget everything about the episode of the pizzeria, but that saga is so terrifying that none of the town's people seem to be getting over it easily. In the meantime, it is learned that a new pizzeria is about to open in Hurricane. This pizzeria too has animatronic animals in the form of mascots. Soon after the grand opening, multiple kidnappings take place in the similar manner as the ones happened 10 year back. John reaches out to Carlton, Marla, and Jessica and asks them to team up with him to find the abducted children and reveal the identity of person responsible for it. Whiling carrying out this mission, they end up solving the mystery related to Charlotte's death as well as the animatronic animals' haunting legacy. This book achieved a wide popularity just like the previous books and sold numerous copies in the counties of its publication. It also received starred reviews from many prominent critics and authors.
